The six Commissioners met in Sydney on 7 and 8 February 2013. Their priority is to establish procedures. They want to make sure that the inquiry is conducted thoroughly and with procedural fairness. The Commission will take time to recruit trained staff who are skilled to listen to people’s experiences. The Commission has secured temporary office premises in Sydney but is looking for permanent hearing rooms located in the Sydney CBD. The Commission hopes to secure permanent premises by June this year. Ms Janette Dines has been appointed to the position of Chief Executive Officer. Ms Gail Furness SC has been appointed as Senior Counsel Assisting the Royal Commission. A range of employment opportunities with the Commission will be advertised shortly.
