Laity to lead church abuse inquiry council

The Catholic Church has named two lay people who will lead a special council set up to co-ordinate the Catholic Church’s response to the Royal Commission. The Council has been named the Truth, Justice and Healing Council’. The former New South Wales Supreme Court chief judge Barry O’Keefe has been named as well as the former secretary-general of the Australian Medical Association, Francis Sullivan. This Council has been set up by the Catholic Church as, clearly,   many of the bishops were unimpressed with Cardinal Pell’s response to the media.
