ABC’s acclaimed Australian Story program recently profiled Newcastle Herald reporter and Royal Commission campaigner Joanne McCarthy.
Last year Joanne won Australia’s top journalism award for her relentless work in exposing the criminal behaviour of paedophiles within the catholic church and other institutions in the Newcastle and regional NSW area.
Joanne’s story is deeply moving. Her and the Newcastle Herald’s tireless dedication to helping victims achieve justice is inspirational. We will never be able to thank Jo enough.
We’ve got a link to the show here, so give yourself half an hour and a box of tissues and prepare to be amazed by the tenacity of one women who singlehandedly started the national campaign for justice.
